WorldBookDay2018 Share the good vibes of reading books!

“A  mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge.” thats what is quoted by the American novelist George R.R Martin. Wishes of World Book Day to everyone! Books! The ultimate magic which always works over human souls, to soothe them, enlighten them and enrich them with all that they desire for. World Book Day is celebrated every year on 23 April to celebrate books, to show how much human mind adores books! "When we celebrate books, we celebrate activities – writing, reading, translating, publishing – which help individuals to raise and fulfil themselves; and we celebrate, in a fundamental way, the freedoms that make them possible." says the Director General of UNESCO on her message on World Book and Copyright Day 2018.

Now let us take a look on why UNESCO recognized 23 April as the World Book Day. We find from the history that On 23 April 1616, two giants of world literature died, two precursors whose work would revolutionize the way fiction was conceived and written: Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra and William Shakespeare. This coincidence is why 23 April was chosen to be World Book and Copyright Day.

This day is celebrated all over the world and especially in the city of Athens this year as it was designated World Book Capital 2018 in recognition of the quality of its programmes to support the publishing sector, which have facilitated access to books for the population as a whole, and for migrants and refugees in particular.

Reading books, encouraging others to read books, and writing good books to revolutionize the society is the duty of every one of us make our Bangladesh and in wider sense the world a better place. Let us all make up the habit of reading books, buying books in other words increasing the scope for writers to reform the society as Francis Bacon has already said“Some books should be tasted, some devoured, but only a few should be chewed and digested thoroughly.”
